Lukasz aided by Almunia's setback Lukasz Fabianski is ready to show he has what it takes to make the Arsenal goalkeeper jersey his own following Manuel Almunia's injury. The 23-year-old Poland international is set for a run in the side following a recurrence of Almunia's ankle problem. The Spaniard's injury - which is expected to sideline him for the next couple of weeks - handed Fabianski a chance to impress during the Champions League quarter-final first leg at Villarreal. Fabianski was called into action straightaway, when he produced a fine double save as the Gunners went on to secure a 1-1 draw through a brilliant goal from Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor. With the chance of playing in an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley later this month, on his 24th birthday, should Almunia not recover, Fabianski is hoping to use the additional game time to good effect. "It is always nice to play, however not in these circumstances," said Fabianski, who had been selected in the Carling Cup this season. "I wish Manuel all the best with his help and I hope he comes back really soon." Fabianski added: "I am maybe not ready to take over the number one spot yet - but I am ready to play. "I respect what Manuel has done for the club. He was playing great for the last couple of months. "Now the situation is like this and I have to play - I am ready." As well as Almunia, Arsenal also lost defender William Gallas to injury on Tuesday night. Adebayor insists the likes of Fabianski and defender Johan Djourou, who replaced Gallas at El Madrigal, can step up to meet the challenges head on. "Djourou had a good game in defence and Lukasz also did well, so we just have trust them and believe in their quality. That is what they are here for," Adebayor said. "They have a chance to play now and we do not have to put any pressure on them. We all know how good they are so they can do the job."
